At Östbergaskolan, the recreation home's mission rests on two legs. The activities should give the children a good care when the guardians work or study, as well as offer meaningful free time and support children's development and learning. The recreation center at Östbergaskolan is also a supplement to the school, both time and content. In our assignment we look at each child's needs, interest and experience. This gives the children space for their curiosity and their desire to learn and influence how the day is shaped. This in turn leads to a higher goal achievement (Lgr-11 and school day). In addition to the work of a good learning environment, creativity, democracy and security, we daily focus on movement and exercise. The leisure center is working closely with the sports club, where our students can try different sports, which hopefully motivate them to come closer to the community. As the school curricula for the elementary school were revised in 2016, it has meant that the assignment is now more elucidated and that the free-time home now has its own section of the curriculum with purpose, abilities and a central content. In order to implement the new curriculum and further enhance the quality of the recreation center, the school has therefore appointed a development team led by the workforce leader in the recreation center and a couple of teachers in the recreation center.
