Young Mother Health Initiatives Uganda (YOMHI) is a registered community-based non-profit organization (BGR/1059/30731), founded by a group of young social scientists in July 2016. The organization implements holistic and sustainable interventions in the field of health and development in under-served, rural communities in Eastern Uganda by using multi-dimensional approaches for community responsibility and engagement. We passionately work on uplifting the status of young people and teenage mothers through guidance pertaining to maternal and child health services, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), entrepreneurship and life skills. Evidence of YOMHIs successes can be seen through the trust and partnerships garnered at every level, including: the community members, local government, regional level and the international level with highly acclaimed bilateral funding organizations and service providers. In recognition of its work, YOMHI has Recognition from Nabukalu Community Development Office and Certificate from Bugiri District Local Government. YOMHI has registered tremendous effort in yielding impact in its area of operation as include: We have supported and empowered 229 women trained 12 champion mothers to conduct door to door community based health outreaches on safe motherhood , financial literacy , SRHR and girls education partnered with 13 schools on sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR), provided solar lighting system in rural maternity wards in Nabukalu HC III, We are offering hands on skills to 10 teenage mothers using tailoring machine to make cloths and reusable sanitary pads.
