Culture Funding Watch was founded in 2014 to provide a central hub serving as a platform for information and research in the field of financing cultural sector in the MENA region and increasingly in the African continent. Cultural policy research in the MENA region as well as in all the African continent showed that arts and philanthropy professionals, artists and civil society need: international intelligence, particularly on funding sources in order to: • Facilitate for accurate, inclusive and participatory Cultural Policies monitoring • strengthen the cultural sector by advancing knowledge about financial resources management. • support good governance, transparency and accountability of cultural sector development in the MENA region and Africa. • Enable a transparent and accountable international Aid management.
