Tracing Public Spaces is a non-profit organisation focused on teaching and building citizenship through participatory design to transform public spaces. We do workshops to teach children aged 10 to 15 to observe their community, imagine how to transform their public spaces and propose design ideas to build a tangible change that responds to the needs of their community that they identified. During the workshops, the participants are introduced to the basic concepts of public space and identity. Through the use of maps, digital cameras, measuring tapes, design tools and models, they are able to analyse their community, choose a space to intervene and build their ideas with the support of specialists and adults of the community.
