About

Learn a little bit about this organization

The Purple Centers Foundation was established in 2003 by British national Jane Walker, who had met children living in unimaginable poverty on garbage dumpsites and public cemeteries during a visit to Manila, and was moved to help them in any way she could. What began as a small day care center for about 30 children in the Public Cemetery of Navotas in 2003 has grown into a diverse educational organization for 800 of the most at-risk, highly vulnerable children surviving in the Smokey Mountain garbage reclamation area, the Irisan dumpsite in Baguio City, and remote government relocation areas for the urban poor. Our flagship educational program is a private, free school for 500 children of Tondo most vulnerable, at-risk children. They and their families receive intensive and comprehensive education, health, and social support.
