Learn a little bit about this organization
APA is Uberlândia’s Animal Protection Association, it was founded back in 1996 and has grown a lot since then. The animals served by APA have the following characteristics: risk situation, victims of maltreatment, domestic violence, puppies expelled from their homes and females at risk of gestation. APA promotes fairs to enable responsible adoption, events such as dinners, lunches, seasonal parties, etc. and also constantly discusses with the public power to obtain improvements to the conditions of the abandoned animals. The NGO is maintained by its members, by raffles and bazaars of used articles, by some companies of the city and anonymous donations. They are still far from having an ideal space. The NGO’s biggest dream is to, besides achieve a financial stability, spread to the population of Uberlândia the importance of taking care of animals, of their adoption and of castration. They want to become a reference in animal’s protection in the city. And even though the people in Uberlândia are aware of the association’s existence, they don’t understand very well the purpose of it, many people think it is a deposit of abandoned animals, which isn’t correct.
