The Département Développement Communautaire et Assainissement du Milieu (DCAM Department) of the Bethesda NGO in Benin, aims to complement the healthcare providing branche of the NGO, to improve health and sanitation conditions in the community to prevent repeated occurrences of diseases. DCAM has been responsible for designing and implementing a community development program in eight districts of the former municipality of Santa Rita (8th district of Cotonou). Activities started with the identification of opinion leaders, strategic groups, the organization of community associations, preparing the project for sustainable management of household waste, research funding and implementation of the program. DCAM activities are diversified and operate in the vision of sustainable development through advocacy of the human person and the environment, research and development, sanitation and environmental protection , information, education and communication.
