Clean Vietnam is an organization that wants to engage and inspire Youth, families, businesses and communities to take action in changing the way we dispose of our waste and the way we look at our local community spaces. Clean Vietnam Day is a proposed event in March 2016 (and subsequent years) that engages community groups, businesses, schools and families to take ownership of sites in their local community and clean them up. It also provides education and cultural change through education and the recognition of the importance of our local environment. The Clean Vietnam Day concept is based on a similar event that takes place in Australia which has proven a great success. It is has spread globally and has had some minor events in Vietnam (there was 16 events with little or no publicity organized by mainly expats in the whole of Vietnam). We see this as an opportunity to establish a local charity and with sponsorship and promotion can turn it into a significant annual event. It is necessary to achieve the type of impact, education and cultural shift that has occurred in Australia that it is important we create a Vietnamese version that is independent rather that as add on to an existing event.
