(The addresses of the school in the early years were checked and confirmed by Mr. Te-shui Lin and Mr. Peng-fe Lin, alumni of the first and second years respectively.) ■Before the school was established 1. In Japanese times, Mr. Wen-Jui Liu, an Chinese herbal doctor, taught old Chinese in his own house. Then Mr. Chi-Hsien Liu also taught old Chinese at Liuku Train Station. (The current address is No. 7, Lane 393, Chung Cheng Rd.,Liuku Village. Now Cheng Tien Charting Company is located there.) 2.Mr. Jung-tai Lin was enthusiastic to arrange the building of the school. Mr. Lin lives at No. 25, Lane 176, Chung Cheng Rd., Wanfeng Village. The building is now called “Chuang Yuan Chi Ti”. His father was an official in the Ching Dynasty and made great contributions to the nation. ■April 1, 1915 The school was established and it was called Wufeng Public School, Wandoliu Branch. There was only one class. The classroom, located in the banana market, was very simple and had no walls. The current address of the market is No. 97, Chung Cheng Rd.It was a farm, west of Mr. Liu-Hsiu Chan and Mr. Chin-Chang Chan's house. It was too primitive to offer protection from the rain and wind. So it was moved into a private house. Later the classroom was moved into Mr. Chi-chen Lin and Mr. Shui-shen Liu’s house and remained there for a long time.The address was No. 95, Chung Cheng Road. ■January, 1920 The classroom was moved to Mr. Jung-tai Lin’s old house which was located at No. 28, Lane 176,Chung Chen Rd. It was a room in the southern wing. There were about 20 students. Mr. Ching Lai, a Taiwanese, was the teacher, who lived at No. 488, Taya Rd, Taichung City. The current address is No. 15, Fengku Road. Mr. Sheng-Fa, Wu, a retired teacher, was his student. ■May, 1920 Classrooms were built and classes started, located at Wandoliu with land No. 408. The current address of the school is No. 16, Lane 176. That was the orchard, west of Mr. Chung-Ching’s house. The gate of the school faced south. There were six classrooms and two dormitories. The classrooms were made of wood with straw roofs. Teaching aids were very simple. The dean of students was a teacher, Mr. A-Fan Lin. Then a rising population started bringing more students. ■April, 1922 The school was renamed Wufeng Public School, Wanfeng Branch. ■Mar. 24, 1931 There was a total of 17 graduates in the first year. (14 boys and 3 girls) Because it was only a branch of Wufeng School, the graduation ceremony was held in Wufeng School. Classes were only offered until fourth grade. Therefore, fifth and sixth graders had to attend Wufeng School. There were six classes in total, including one class each from first to fourth grades and one class for fifth and sixth graders combined. The sixth graders graduated first. The principal of Wufeng Public School was Mr. Hsien Chang San Lang, a Japanese. The dean of Wanfeng Branch was Mr. A-FanLin, a Taiwanese. He was also the class teacher of fifth and sixth graders. Mr. Te-Shiu Lin was the class leader. ■July, 1931 The classrooms were often flooded because the buildings were too primitive. Moreover, there was no space to build more classrooms, so the school was moved to the current location. ■April 1, 1938 The school became independent. It was renamed Wandoliu Public School. ■Mar. 18, 1939 The ninth graduation ceremony was held befor Taiwan became independent. (the first one after independence.) ■April 1, 1941 It was renamed Wandoliu National School and Fengku classrooms were set up. ■Oct. 25, 2945 The first principal was Mr. Cheng-Teng Tseng after Taiwan became independent. ■Oct., 1948 Fengku Branch School of Wandoliu National School was established ■April 22, 1953 It was renamed Wanfeng National School. ■Aug. 31, 1955 The second principal, Mr. Chien-Li Liu, took office. ■Sept. 1, 1956 Fengku Branch School became an independent Fengku Primary School. ■July 31, 1958 The third principal, Mr. Hsien Hsu, took at his post. ■July 20, 1964 The gate was rebuilt and the building of the auditorium was finished. Mr. He-Nien Lin, County Magistrate, cut the ribbon at the inauguration ceremony. ■Sept. 26, 1965 The fourth principal, Mr. Chi-Nan Shen, started his duty. ■Sept. 1, 1966 Mr. Ping-Ching Lai was elected chairperson of the Parent’s Association. ■Sept. 1, 1968 It was renamed Wanfeng Primary School. ■Sept. 1, 1968 Mr. Wen-Chi Tsai was elected chairperson of the Parent’s Association. ■Sept. 4, 1972 The fifth principal, Mr. Chih-Chung Lee, took office. ■Sept. 1, 1972 Mr. Huo Lai was elected chairperson of the Parent’s Association. ■Dec. 5, 1973 Wooden classrooms were removed. Ten 2-story cement classrooms were built. ■Sept. 1, 1980 Mr. Hsiu-Wang Cheng was elected chairperson of the Parent’s Association. ■Sept. 14, 1981 Mr. Chang-Tsun Yeh was elected chairperson of the Parent’s Association. ■Sept. 14, 1981 The sixth principal, Mr. Ying-Lin Mong, started his duty. ■Sept. 1, 1982 Mr. Cheng-Yen Tsao was elected chairperson of the Parent’s Association. ■Sept. 30, 1982 One new platform was built ■Apr. 25, 1983 The gate was rebuilt and the enclosing wall was completed. ■June 3, 1983 The statue of the national father was erected. ■Apr. 16, 1985 The seventh principal, Mr. Chih-Li Lo, started his duty. ■Mar. 26, 1986 The building of 2-story classrooms in the north and south was completed. ■Mar. 2, 1988 The well was completed. ■Sept. 14, 1988 Mr. Ming-Che Lee was elected chairperson of the Parent’s Association. ■June 25, 1989 The garage, enclosing walls and botanical garden were built. ■Aug. 1, 1989 The eighth principal, Miss Mei-Chu Huang, took office. ■Feb. 28, 1990 More chairs, desks and books were supplied for the library. ■Sept. 1, 1990 Classrooms were equipped with aluminum windows and the floors were laid with tiles. ■Mar. 23, 1991 Two specialized classrooms and two restrooms were built. ■Oct. 1992 The Parent’s Association offered one million dollars as funds for scholarships. ■July 30, 1993 Drinking water was offered. Four restrooms were built. The installation of new lights was completed. ■Dec. 21, 1993 One school land with area, 9533 M2, was purchased. The Hall of Education sponsored NT$26,730,000.00 and Taichung County Government sponsored NT$66,801,200.00. ■Mar. 3, 1994 Sound and audio-video equipment in the auditorium was offered. ■Jan. 5, 1995 The reconstruction of the botanical garden and garden was completed. ■Mar. 1, 1995 The audio-video room and art gallery were built. ■Sept. 1995 Mr. Yao-Tung Chang was elected chairperson of the Parent’s Association. ■Sept. 1996 Mr. Chien-Kuo Lee was elected chairperson of the Parent’s Association. ■Sept. 21, 1996 The tenth principal, Mr. An-Nan Kuo, took office. ■Sept. 1997 Mr. Wen-Lung Hsu was elected chairperson of the Parent’s Association. ■Sept. 1998 Mr. Ching-An Juang was elected chairperson of the Parent’s Association. ■Sept. 28, 1999 Because of the Chi Chi earthquake, the flag-raising stand was destroyed. ■Feb. 19, 2000 The eleventh principal, Mr. Jung-Mao Chiu, took office. ■Sept. 2000 Mr. Ying-Tung Hse was elected chairperson of the Parent’s Association. ■Apr. 2002 Wanfeng Junior Baseball Team got third place in the Chu Wei Cup. ■May, 2002 The Dragon Dance team got the prize of “Outstanding Performance” in the Dragon Dance Competition of Taichung,County Chairman’s Cup. ■Sept. 2002 Mr. Chung-Cheng Tsai was elected chairperson of the Parent’s Association. ■Mar. 2003 Outstanding performance in the drawing contest for fire prevention. ■Apr. 2003 The Dragon Dance team got first place in the single- dragon and double- dragon competition, Dragon Dance of Taichung, County Chairman’s Cup. ■May, 2003 Wanfeng Junior Baseball Team got first place in the Chairman’s Cup for softball.
