Who We Are We are a non-profit organization, founded on April 25, 1990 under the leadership of Monsignor Romulo Emiliani, former Vicar Apostolic of Darien. Authorized by the Ministry of Government and Justice of Panama, with juridical personality No.174 June 8 1990. We are registered with the Ministry of Finance to receive donations that are deductible from income tax, according to Resolution 201-1431, the October 26, 1990. MISSION: Reducing child malnutrition through interrelated with nutrition programs, health, education, production and community development activities. VISION: Improve the quality of life in the depths of family, especially children. AREAS OF INTERVENTION: Our work takes place in the Shire Embera Wounaan and the province of Darien. located approximately 7,500 children in 106 communities, of which 48% are indigenous and the remaining 52% and afro-darien settlers, who live in extreme consist currently serving poverty. Our main source of income is the Sponsorship Program, individual and corporate, relying on donations from private organizations, public institutions and built projects. Since 1990 we have been able to benefit more than 60,000 children. The Foundation for the Children of Darien is composed of a General Assembly of 20 volunteers, which in turn is represented by a Board of Directors composed of 7 members, elected for a term of two years.
