In many slums of Nairobi, houses and schools are dark because the buildings are poorly constructed, with little or no natural light. Many are forced to use electricity instead, but as many people cannot afford it, they resort to illegally cutting the connections provided by the government. These illegal connections are unsafe and often lead to electrocution and slum fires. This project seeks to provide a solution through natural lamps. The lamps are made from used plastic bottles, water and bleach to provide a safe, efficient and clean source of energy. Best of all, it plays a part in reducing the amount of plastic waste!
