Mi-Zhan was called Ci Poipoiy’am(like Miscanthus) in Ami language. Before Hualien bridge and 193 road opened, the specail agricultural commodities from Shoufong and Shuilian , daily necessaries had to be transported through Mi-Zhan so there came to porters and relative industry like Warehousing of goods. That’s the reason why the village named as〝 Mi-Zhan〞in the beginning.
