The Joey Velasco Foundation (JVF) was built in 2010 as a tribute to its late namesake, a well-known painter with a huge heart for the poor. He is most famous for his painting Hapag ng Pag-asa (Table of Hope) depicting The Last Supper but with real street children instead of the apostles. Nowadays, JVF is focusing on creating a sustainable program for the Gawad Kalinga - Hapag Community in Caloocan City which consists of the families of the street children in the painting, as well as former slum dwellers. They do this through scholarships and livelihood programs in the community. Moreover, they exert effort on enriching the lives of other underserved communities through art, hoping that they will be inspired through the art of Joey Velasco. They also conduct art workshops and choir practices from time to time.
