Project
The project aims to contribute to SDG #8 by enhancing the capacity of local communities to build a promote sustainable local tourism activities that bring revenue and boost employavility in the region.

Role

Project Activities

Week 1
Day 2: Volunteer/student/community introductions; explain roles, project goals and buddy system.
Day 5: Define target audience, campaign goals, content calendar and hashtag strategy
Day 4: Visit heritage and lesser-known attractions; document observations through photos and notes.
Day 3: Baseline assessment of students/community knowledge about Anuradhapura tourism.
Day 1: Partner onboarding and stakeholder introduction; understand project objectives and current tourism situation.
Week 2
Day 2: Junior Guide Training – communication and presentation skills
Day 5: Sustainable tourism workshop + student showcase/guided-tour script or video.
Day 4: Historical, cultural and environmental education about Anuradhapura
Day 3: Visitor engagement training and role-play exercises.
Week 2 – Education & Junior Tourism Guides. Day 1: Tourism, hospitality and cultural heritage awareness session.
Week 3
Day 5: Create video snippets/graphics and schedule initial posts.
Week 3 – Content Creation & Social Media. Day 1: Photography/content creation workshop.
Day 2: Create branded social-media templates and promotional materials.
Day 3: Set up/optimise social-media profiles and finalise content calendar
Day 4: Create tourism awareness posts, volunteer highlights and “Did You Know Anuradhapura?” content.
Week 4
Day 2: Stakeholder/guest outreach and engagement
Day 3: Launch “Meet Our Volunteers” / “Anuradhapura Hidden Gems” campaign and Q&A
Day 4: Collect testimonials and feedback from students, volunteers, guests and stakeholders.
Day 5: Publish impact/achievement posts, conduct final engagement and send thank-you messages.
Week 4 – Campaign & Closing. Day 1: Launch tourism awareness campaign.
