The project aims to impact SDG #5 by fostering educational spaces that generate awareness about gender related issues and build initiatives to work on solutions to stop gender inequality in communities around the globe.

Role

Project Activities

Week 1
Create an implementation plan on how the project should unfold and determine materials to be used
Onboarding space with partner representatives to understand the current scenario, beneficiaries and discuss about the outcome of the project
Introductory session with the beneficiaries, presentation of the volunteers and project objectives.
Run the initial assessment needed for measuring the outcome/impact of the project
Preparing the activities that will be done in the following weeks and receiving feedback from the partners and AIESEC
Week 2
Lesson: Exploring the concept of gender.
Workshop: What does equality means? (explore the concept beyond gender)
Workshop: Understanding Microaggressions and Stereotypes - Fostering Inclusive Environments
Activity: watch a movie (e.g Hidden Figures, 2016) and debate on intersectionality, breaking barriers, and the importance of diversity in diverse fields, etc
Workshop: empowering youth to combat bullying
Week 3
Practice: Perform role-plays that explore inclusion and identity at educational spaces.
History lesson: women vote and civic participation.
Lesson: gender inequality, women and non-conforming people rights.
Round-table: Discussion about gender roles, stereotypes and how they influence young people identity and future decisions
Practice: Analyze women, girls and gender nonconforming people representation on media (present problematic and good example of representation in popular media)
Week 4
Practice: Identify local initiatives that work towards the eradication of gender inequality. Present the findings and experiences of this initiatives to the classroom.
History lesson: outstanding women and gender nonconforming people through time. Their contributions to gender equality.
Workshop: The situation of women leadership on the community (deliver by a female community leader)
Round-table: Discussion about violence against women and gender nonconforming people around the globe. What can we do about it?
Personal Action Blueprint: Crafting Your Path to Change - beneficiaries discuss about what will be the actions they take in their personal lives to combat this issue
Week 5
Decorate the classroom with temathic material.
Plan a school Gender Equality Day with the beneficiaries.
Prepare presentation to showcase the main learning to parents, school authorities and other students.
Send invitation to parents and school authorities
Organize Gender Equality Day and create an after-movie/short video
Week 6
Develop a toolkit that includes resources, information, and practical steps for individuals to advocate for gender equality
Encourage beneficiaries to work together on a collaborative advocacy project that focuses on a specific issue related to gender equality
Conduct a community audit where beneficiaries assess local organizations, schools, and public spaces for gender equality practices.
Allow participants to express their perspectives on gender equality through various art forms, fostering creativity and dialogue within the community.
Host a screening of the short videos produced on gender equality topics, followed by a facilitated discussion, analyzing the videos' messages and exploring the topics further.
Week 7
Beneficiaries collaborate to create an interactive timeline that highlights key events and milestones related to gender equality, civic participation, and women's rights.
Facilitate a story circle where beneficiaries share personal reflections or insights gained from the program.
Hold a workshop where beneficiaries revisit their Personal Action Blueprints and refine their commitments to advocating for gender equality.
Create a "Commitment Wall of Change" where participants collectively design a large visual display that showcases their personal pledges to advocate for gender equality.
Conclude the recap week with a workshop where participants articulate their commitments to promoting gender equality
Week 8
Collect data from beneficiaries (you can use surveys, interviews, focus groups, etc.)
Analyse data to determinate outcome/impact results (level of awareness of beneficiaries post-project activities).
Build final project report and presented to AIESEC members and NGO/non-profit representatives.
Closing day with beneficiaries
Debrief the impact of the project, how the beneficiaries developed, discuss about what went well and even better if and include this in the report
