Project
The project aims to impact SDG #14 by providing communities that live near marine and coastal areas, with concrete activities to improve the sustainability of the coast and protect marine wildlife that inhabit these ecosystems.

By 2025, prevent and significantly reduce marine pollution of all kinds, in particular from land-based activities, including marine debris and nutrient pollution

Role

Project Activities

Week 1
Attend IPS session and city tour with AIESEC in Ruhuna
Prepare necessary materials.
Research the partner academy.
First day of work.
Onboarding process.
Week 2
Feeding turtles at the hatchery under supervision
Assisting staff in daily monitoring and basic record keeping
Learning about turtle species, life cycle, and threats
Cleaning turtle tanks and maintaining hatchery hygiene
Orientation session on marine conservation and turtle protection
Week 3
Supporting visitor engagement and answering basic questions
Preparing turtles for safe release to the sea
Conducting turtle releasing activities with the conservation team
Participating in awareness sessions for foreigners about turtle conservation
Explaining the importance of protecting endangered marine species
Week 4
Prepare the final report.
Conduct the final presentation.
Submit the final report.
Farewell event and vodcasting with AIESEC in Ruhuna.
Evaluate the 4 weeks activities.
