Project
The project aims to impact SDG #15 by building up communities' capacity to respond and act upon the degradation of natural habitat, diversity loss, and the protection of wildlife.

Take urgent and significant action to reduce the degradation of natural habitats, halt the loss of biodiversity and, by 2020, protect and prevent the extinction of threatened species.

Role

Project Activities

Week 1
Onboarding space with partner representatives to understand the current scenario, beneficiaries and discuss about the outcome of the project
Run the initial assessment needed for measuring the outcome/impact of the project
Preparing the activities that will be done in the following weeks and receiving feedback from the partners and AIESEC
Create an implementation plan on how the project should unfold and determine materials to be used
Introductory session with the beneficiaries, presentation of the volunteers and project objectives.
Week 2
Create a short film/reel/article about a species or degradation in the region and showcase it on social media or with different PR partners (such as blogs)
Workshop: SDG 15 and the negative impact of of natural habitat degradation and loss of biodiversity for the future.
Game: Scavenger hunt to find the signs of degradation in the habitat
Activity: Mapping out the root causes of habitat degradation with community members
Round table: Watching documentaries about ecosystem and debating the topic of what can humans do to prevent ecosystems degradation
Workshop: Importance of biodiversity and how protecting animals supports ecosystems.
Week 3
Activity: Create an accountability system in the community for the conservation of nature around them
Workshop: How to create safe habitats for local wildlife, such as birds, insects, or small mammals.
Activity: Run a fundraising campaign for the protection of a specific endangered specie or natural habitat
Workshop: How to take care of the place we're living in (our ecosystem)?
Run a local event on the NGO/school to launch the accountability system and strive to have a local representative leader signing the commitment.
Fieldwork: run activities in animal rescue centers
Week 4
Closing day with beneficiaries
Collect data from beneficiaries (you can use surveys, interviews, focus groups, etc.)
Analyse data to determinate outcome/impact results (level of awareness of beneficiaries post-project activities).
Build final project report and presented to AIESEC members and NGO/non-profit representatives.
Debrief the impact of the project, how the beneficiaries developed, discuss about what went well and even better if and include this in the report
