Project
The project aims to contribute to SDG #15 by educating beneficiaries on local ecosystems and sustainable practices. It focuses on promoting biodiversity awareness and teaching ways to protect natural habitats. Through hands-on activities, beneficiaries will learn how to minimize environmental impact and develop a sense of responsibility for conservation.

Life On Land - Target 15.1

By 2020, ensure the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of terrestrial and inland freshwater ecosystems and their services, in particular forests, wetlands, mountains and drylands, in line with obligations under international agreements

Role

Project Activities

Week 1
Attend IPS and begin the first official day of work by meeting the local committee and fellow volunteers.
Organize and categorize the collected materials to ensure that sessions run smoothly and efficiently.
Collect all required materials such as notebooks, art supplies, nature-exploration tools, and teaching aids needed for the upcoming weeks.
Arrange a guided visit around Galle City to understand the cultural environment and natural spaces where future activities may take place.
Participate in the onboarding session to understand the goals of Project Fingerprint, the SDG focus, and the role of global volunteers.
Week 2
Arrange interactive sessions to get to know the kids’ personalities, interests, strengths, and levels of English proficiency.
Prepare additional presentation activities that encourage kids to express themselves and practice daily English.
Organize simple presentation programs to help children improve communication, teamwork, and confidence.
Lead nature-exploration activities with the kids to help them observe their environment and begin understanding natural patterns.
Conduct an introductory session for the kids to explain the project, build rapport, and create a comfortable learning atmosphere.
Week 3
Take students outside the school for experiential learning sessions that foster curiosity, teamwork, and hands-on discovery.
Teach children about nature, including how to navigate environments using basic mathematical concepts and practical observation skills.
Conduct workshops that build on previous sessions, reinforcing teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
Lead storytelling sessions where volunteers use creative narratives to teach values, communication skills, and environmental awareness.
Organize a photography workshop to help kids develop observation skills, creativity, and an appreciation for natural surroundings.
Week 4
Complete all pending tasks and ensure that final creative works, documentation, and reports are properly organized.
Write the final report summarizing activities, key outcomes, challenges, and improvements for future project editions.
Participate in the farewell event to celebrate cultural exchange, teamwork, and the impact created throughout the project.
Record a vodcast with AIESEC in Ruhuna to reflect on your experience and share insights for future volunteers.
Collect data on student participation, learning progress, and skill development for project impact measurement.
