The project aims to impact SDG #13 by educating communities about climate change and building action plans to reduce critical factors affecting the environment.

Role

Project Activities

Week 1
Take a simple survey to get the knowledge about basic understanding of student in the topic
Determine measure of outcome system and material to be use
Create and preparatory material for the sessions,dynamics and workshops of the following weeks.
Analyse country and local issues regarding climate change.
Onboarding space with opportunity provider representative to understand the context and urgent needs of the community regarding climate change
Week 2
Lab practice: Practical demonstration of greenhouse effect.
Documentary viewings about climate change.
Introductory session with the beneficiaries, presentation of the volunteers and project objectives.
Let participants do research on how climate change has affected their community (sea level rise, temperature rise, desertification etc.)
Round table: Discuss the causes and effects of climate change with the students.
Week 3
Round table: Use the Climate Change Scorecard to discuss ways to reduce greenhouse gas pollution at home and at school.
Practice: Ask students if they can think of other ways to save energy, reduce pollution or remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Add their ideas to the scorecard.
Fieldwork: Plant a tree or garden at school, help your school become “greener”
Practice: Together with the students run a climate awareness events for social media. You can think on a catchy hashtag and encourage students to use their platforms to share knowledge. In case of no internet, you can run a one day physical awareness campaign
Workshop: The 3 R's of ecology
Week 4
Collect data from project beneficiaries (you can use surveys, interviews, focus groups, etc.)
Closing space with beneficiaries.
Workshop: Alternatives for carb footprint. How to be more sustainable at home?
Build final project report and presented to AIESEC members and NGO/non-profit representatives.
Analyse data to determinate outcome results.
