Project Equify [8 weeks]
The project aims to impact SDG #10 by fostering educational spaces on the basics of inequality as well as promoting local initiative to tackle discrimination and inequality in the community

Role

Project Activities

Week 1
Preparing the activities that will be done in the following weeks and receiving feedback from the partners and AIESEC
Introductory session with the beneficiaries, presentation of the volunteers and project objectives.
Run the initial assessment needed for measuring the outcome/impact of the project
Session: Local cultural insights, local university tour, an Incoming Preparation Seminar, and a Train-the-Trainer session to equip you with the right knowledge and skills.
Create an implementation plan on how the project should unfold and determine materials to be used
Onboarding space with partner representatives to understand the current scenario, beneficiaries and discuss about the outcome of the project
Week 2
Dynamic: Human rights and the SDGs (Key message: all human are equal)
Session: The origins of inequality and social inclusiveness issues in the community
Site Visit: Gain firsthand insights and exposure through a guided visit to Langkawi Autism Care Centre (LACC)
Session: Participants will engage in learning batik art, a key aspect of local culture, with guidance from artisans.
Analysis on SDG 10 and inequality in the country and the region
Week 3
Round Table: Discussion space about how issues in the local community relate to issues in other countries or regions
Session: Learn how to transform used candle wax into beautiful, reusable candles, guided by local artisans.
Session: The initiative involves organizing a small exhibition to showcase the outcomes of the arts and crafts.
Workshop: My role as a citizen
Dynamic: Organizing a 'cross the line' activity for participants so that they become aware of their own privilege relative to others
Week 4
Working time: student put what as learn in practice and work on presenting a social initiative that can tackle inequality in their community
Workshop: How to create an awareness campaign
Session: The activity allows students to create and test their own cars while discovering science principles through hands-on play, similar to building with LEGO.
Workshop: How to Measure and Evaluate Impact
Session: Guiding a simple yet educational volcano science experiment with students, using recyclable materials.
Week 5
Session: Introduce students to different categories of animals and engage them in fun activities to spark their curiosity and interest in exploration.
Session: Reconnect with the natural world through sustainability initiatives that teach students how to practice composting and make eco-enzymes for daily use.
Working time: Give student time to work on their projects to ensure change in the community after the project ends
Gather constructive feedback from peers, volunteers, and community members to refine their projects.
Help beneficiaries develop concrete action plans for implementing their projects
Create system to monitor the results and impact of initiatives created by students. Add this on final report.
Week 6
Gather the needed data ot measure the outcome of the campaign created by the beneficiaries
Global Village: Experience cultural exchange and engagement featuring AIESEC members from different states and countries.
Encourage students to run a public awareness campaign using social media, flyers, or local events to promote their initiatives and engage the broader community in their efforts.
Have the beneficiaries organize a public workshop about the topic
Week 7
Awareness Booth: A dedicated space will highlight the initiatives undertaken, with the goal of sparking meaningful conversations and encouraging community-driven change.
Organize a structured debate where beneficiaries argue for different approaches to reducing inequality on social media (e.g., policy changes, community action, grassroots activism).
Divide beneficiaries into teams and have them create short presentations that summarize their learnings from the workshop series.
Organize a group reflection session where beneficiaries share lessons learned from the project process, challenges they faced, and how they overcame them.
Week 8
Collect data from beneficiaries (you can use surveys, interviews, focus groups, etc.)
Debrief the impact of the project, how the beneficiaries developed, discuss about what went well and even better if and include this in the report
Closing day with beneficiaries
Analyse data to determinate outcome/impact results (level of awareness of beneficiaries post-project activities).
Build final project report and presented to AIESEC members and NGO/non-profit representatives.
