The project aims to contribute to SDG #8 by enhancing the capacity of local communities to build a promote sustainable local tourism activities that bring revenue and boost employavility in the region.

Monday to Sunday, - 8:00 am - 8:00 pm

Project Activities

  • Week 1
    Introductory session with the beneficiaries, presentation of the volunteers and project objectives.
    Run the initial assessment needed for measuring the outcome/impact of the project
    Preparing the activities that will be done in the following weeks and receiving feedback from the partners and AIESEC
    Create an implementation plan on how the project should unfold and determine materials to be used

    Onboarding space with partner representatives to understand the current scenario, beneficiaries and discuss about the outcome of the project
  • Week 2
    Map out the undervalued tourist attractions in the visited cities and develop comprehensive plans to enhance visibility, improve experiences, and promote sustainable tourism.
    Engage with the local residents in order to gain insights into the community perspectives that go beyond the typical tourist attractions
    Conduct surveys and focus groups to gather information on current tourism practices, local culture, and community needs.
    Plan and deliver a small local attraction campaign to promote the workshops and activities to be run in week 3 and 4. You can use mouth to mouth promotion and visit local business to directly invite people.
    Travel to nearby cities and visits to local realities, rather than the stereotypical tourist sights.
  • Week 3
    Conduct interviews with local stakeholders (tour guides, artisans, business owners) to understand their challenges and how sustainable tourism can benefit them
    Post real-time updates on social media, sharing insights from the local attractions they visit.
    Map out organizations, influencers, or investors interested in promoting sustainable tourism.
    Develop tailored proposals or partnership ideas to engage the mapped organizations, influencers or investors in joint efforts to promote sustainable tourism in the region.
    Travel to various cities, visiting lesser-known cultural and historical sites and document these through photography and video, showcasing the beauty of these places
  • Week 4
    Workshop: Basic of photography and marketing for begginers. Branding for local business & attraction campaigns.
    Workshops: Creating an strategy for your local business.
    Workshop: introducing the principles of sustainable tourism, discussing its importance and benefits for local communities.
    Workshop: Leveraging social media and online platforms for tourism growth
    Hold workshops in different regions or cities to empower local businesses and communities across multiple areas.
  • Week 5
    Acticity: Practical photography & content creation
    Activity: Social media setup, content uploading and optimization
    Encourage collaboration between local businesses and community members to create a unified tourism promotion strategy.
    Develop a shared marketing toolkit that can be used to promote attractions
    Plan virtual campaign to promote the places of value you map out at the begging of the project. The objective is to put those places on the map of local and international tourist.
  • Week 6
    Map and reach out to stakeholders that can help and/or invest on local tourism and present your main findings.
    Create targeted outreach strategies for engaging with identified stakeholders, including messaging, communication methods, and potential partnership proposals.
    Organize an event to celebrate the achievements of the project, recognizing participants and local businesses that have committed to sustainable tourism.
    Create an action plan with the beneficiaries in order to continue the strategies created during the project
    Run a virtual campaign to promote the places of value.
  • Week 7
    Host pop-up events in city centers or tourist spots, where they share information about lesser-known sites and sustainable tourism benefits.
    Distribute marketing materials and toolkits developed earlier to help local businesses and communities promote their attractions to a wider audience.
    Set up small sessions in public spaces (like town squares or local markets) to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable tourism.
    Work with regional influencers or bloggers to spread the message about sustainable tourism and the unique local attractions.
    Travel to major cities and engage with local businesses and tourist spots, promoting the ongoing virtual campaign aimed at showcasing undervalued attractions.
  • Week 8
    Analyse data to determinate outcome/impact results (level of awareness of beneficiaries post-project activities).
    Build final project report and presented to AIESEC members and NGO/non-profit representatives.
    Closing day with beneficiaries
    Debrief the impact of the project, how the beneficiaries developed, discuss about what went well and even better if and include this in the report
    Collect data from beneficiaries (you can use surveys, interviews, focus groups, etc.)
