Responsibilities

Key Requirements & Qualifications

Education: Bachelors Degree in English, ELT, Education, or Linguistics from a recognized university, or an equivalent professional qualification (e.g., TKT, CELTA, TESOL, or Higher National Diploma in English).

Teaching Experience: Minimum 12 years of experience teaching Cambridge English curricula (Starters, Movers, Flyers, KET, PET) in a reputed school or language institute.

Language Proficiency: Native or near-native fluency in written and spoken UK English. Knowledge of local context/languages (Sinhala) to assist lower-level young learners is an advantage.

Exam Knowledge: Familiarity with current Cambridge English exam structures, question patterns, and official assessment criteria.

Skills: Excellent classroom presentation skills, patience with young children, strong organizational ability, and proficiency with digital tools/audio equipment for listening tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons aligned with Cambridge Assessment English frameworks (CEFR Pre-A1 to B1 levels).

Exam Preparation: Train students in the four core language skillsReading, Writing, Listening, and Speakingspecifically targeting Cambridge YLE, KET, and PET exam formats, timing, and marking criteria.

Interactive Methodology: Conduct high-energy, communicative activities, roleplays, and vocabulary games to encourage active student participation and reduce teacher talk time.

Assessment & Progress Tracking: Administer regular mock tests, evaluate past papers, maintain accurate progress records, and provide constructive feedback to students and parents.

Classroom Management: Maintain an encouraging, disciplined, and age-appropriate learning environment for young learners (ages 611 for YLE) and teens (ages 1215 for KET/PET).

Parent Communication: Conduct periodic academic updates with parents to discuss student development, exam readiness, and areas for improvement.

Material Preparation: Develop supplementary worksheets, flashcards, audio exercises, and revision guides tailored to local learning needs using British English standards.
