About Steiner College
Steiner College is a group of schools in Sri Lanka offering high standard educational services from foundation level to graduation. It was started in the year 2016 by Dr. Lakmal Prabhash Ranasinghe.
Currently, the school consists of 350 students and 60 academic & non-academic staff under the following avenues of educational services:
A Pearson Edexcel approved International School (Year 1 to Advanced Level)
A National School (Local curriculum – English medium)
Steiner Institute of Cognitive Enhancement (Special needs Education & assistance for learning disabilities)
Sri Lanka’s first Waldorf-inspired Early learning centers (operates in Battaramulla, Thalawathugoda and Rajagiriya)
University College of Steiner (Fast-track bridging programme & BTec Courses)
Cocoon foundation (non-profit programme to educate marginalized and excluded groups)
Role
Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development and Lesson Planning: Teachers are responsible for developing and adapting curriculum to meet the needs of their students, creating engaging and effective lesson plans, and selecting appropriate teaching materials and resources.
- Instruction and Teaching: Teachers deliver lessons, explain concepts, guide discussions, and provide instruction to students in a variety of formats, including lectures, group activities, and individual instruction.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Teachers assess student learning through various methods, including tests, assignments, projects, and observations, and provide feedback to students and parents on their progress.
- Classroom Management: Teachers maintain a positive and productive learning environment by managing student behaviour, addressing conflicts, and creating a safe and respectful classroom.
- Communication and Collaboration: Teachers communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues to share information, address concerns, and collaborate on student learning.
- Professional Development: Teachers are expected to engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in education and to improve their teaching skills.
