About BigMile

BigMile is a leading SaaS technology company that offers a groundbreaking solution for emission management in the supply chain, logistics, and mobility. Companies are increasingly required to calculate their CO2 emissions and allocate them to customers and shipments. With our platform, we help companies and institutions calculate and visualize their logistic carbon footprint. As a result, organizations have reliable tools to report, analyze, and reduce their emissions.

Role

Responsibilities

You thrive in team environments, enjoying collaborating with colleagues. You have a passion for learning and equally enjoy sharing your insights with others. You ask questions when clarity is needed and can anticipate customer needs. With a positive outlook, you see opportunities where others might only see challenges. Youre comfortable wearing multiple hats, balancing backend engineering with infrastructure

responsibilities. Whether its fine-tuning Kubernetes clusters or optimizing backend services, youre eager to take ownership and ensure systems are scalable, reliable and efficient.

- TypeScript (NestJS) and Kubernetes do not have any secrets on you

- Affinity with different databases such as ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, and

messaging systems such as Kafka.

- DevOps and infrastructure savvy

- Great communication skills: team-oriented, approachable, helpful, and not afraid to ask questions

- Passionate about sustainability (an affinity with data and logistics is a plus)

- Available full-time (4 or 5 days a week)

You'll join a dynamic team of backend and frontend developers. Most based in the Netherlands and one in Poland. With your addition and potential new hires, we plan to expand from one team to two. We work mostly remote, utilizing our virtual office in Gather.

We like to learn and improve, and when we see the opportunity, a good idea or suggestion can be adopted right-away. We start our days with a standup, sharing about our weekend or last night and meet each other consistently during the day. Most often sharing our screens.

We share responsibility and work when deadlines are near and do not believe in git blaming each other (as we fail as a team)

Our application ecosystem is pretty cool (if we do say so ourselves). Weve got a variety of APIs running on our Kubernetes clustersome are client-facing, others power our internal systems. Kafka helps us keep the data flowing, and we manage loads of emissions data in our databases to support sustainability goals.
