About SHR Timber research
SHR tests, advises and shares knowledge about wood species, material selection and processing. From board material to bio-based semi-finished products, from paint to glue and from sealants to screws, nails, staples and other (building) materials. But also on specific application areas, such as renovation, restoration, energy efficient building, furniture and (ship) interior construction.
Recently the interest for building in wood has grown hugely, because it might be part of the solution with regard to climate change, by lowering CO2-emissions. At the same time, in our inspection projects we see more damages because of moisture ingress in wooden elements or timber building parts. This has renewed our interest in continuous measurement of wood moisture content (WMC) from a distance.
Role
Responsibilities
- The intern will be responsible for data collection using different sensors and wood products and correlating the data to real time values and developing an operational procedure to use continuous moisture measurement accurately and reliably.
- The monitoring of WMC be either temporary or structurally, using different sensors.
- The reliability and longevity of the measurements needs to be established in case of regular circumstances of condensation.
