In celebration of the International Day of Dance, we’ve compiled a few of the best AIESEC roll calls we’ve found on YouTube to celebrate our spirited culture.
AIESEC roll calls are the calling of the names or groups of people from a list to determine the presence or absence of the listed people. Roll calls have been a long held tradition in AIESEC that often happen are conferences. Whether you’re a global partner of AIESEC, or a new member, they enable you to connect with our community. Roll calls represent the vibrancy, dynamism and culture around AIESEC and the spirit of bringing people together across different cultures.
How did it all begin? AIESEC legends has it.. the old way was the simple announcement of countries or territories and they would say “present,” but one time at an AIESEC International Congress, one African delegation started dancing instead of simply saying present. And that began the whole tradition.
If you’ve ever attended an AIESEC conference or event, they will always start with roll calls to bring energy and signal the attendance of specific groups of people. They are custom dances that are often done with a group of people to represent and showcase your country or territory’s personality, culture and spirit. They are typically done in alignment with a song from popular culture, or even more traditional songs.
Inspired or energized to dance?
We encourage you to submit links to your best roll calls below and be a part of the AIESEC community to make a positive impact on the world. Let’s dance! While we may be some of the best and worst dancers, the core purpose of these roll calls is to bring people of together and have fun. The power of dance enables us to unite people from different parts of the world and give them a chance to showcase their culture and have their presence felt. While this is not all what we do, it is a big part of who we are, as AIESECers, as young leaders who are committed to making the world a better place and spreading positivity along the way.
